Slavia is the most famous of Prague‘s coffee houses and brings a rich history. Savour the charming atmosphere and beautiful views of Prague Castle, the Vltava River and Petrin Hill. Since 1884 it has been a a meeting point of well-known Czech writers, actors, philosophers and composers. Just a few of the famous regulars have included Bedřich Smetana, Antonín Dvořák, Jan Werich, Karel and Josef Čapek and Franz Kafka.
Cafe Slavia is located in the Neo-Renaissance palace Lažanských right opposite the National Theatre. Meat lovers and vegetarians will enjoy a selection of Czech and international cuisine but, do you also have a sweet tooth? Then you can look forward to delicious homemade desserts, pancakes and ice cream sundaes .
Slavia has always been the centre of Prague's cultural life. Jaroslav Seifert wrote his poems here, Jiří Grossman wrote short stories and Jiří Šlitr his songs. Whilst Josef Škvorecký, Arnost Lustig and Vitězslav Nezval were looking for inspiration here.
